ISPS-MTSA CERTIFICATION CRISIS AT HAND
It has been over a year since the International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted the International Ship and Port Security (ISPS) Code. As of 31 December 2003, over 5,000 ships and 4,000 ports have failed to meet the required deadline. This means that there are less than six months remaining before the mandatory compliance date of 1 July 2004.

REQUIREMENTS FOR PILOTS RENEWING LICENSES IN POST STCW-95 ERA
Pilots renewing near coastal/ocean deck licenses of 200 GRT or greater, after 1 February 2003, will have a restriction placed on their document if they do not possess a STCW-95 certificate.
